It’s been interesting to watch my social media connections during this pandemic.
Many of them started out sharing COVID-19 data that reflected the importance of social distancing, and taking it very seriously.
As time moved on, and the length of social distancing started to become more burdensome, those same individuals have now started sharing anti-social distancing memes and articles that question the numbers.
So what changed?
I understand it’s likely due to hardships felt by this extended social distancing period, and/or patience for inconveniences wearing thin. Also the governments pretty terrible effort to shield the population from the economic fallout.
BUT… It really shows our society’s selfishness and “cherry picking” nature.
None of us WANT this. I mean, you’re not alone if you’re sick of it and want to get back to normal. But, social distancing was never about YOU, it’s about everyone – slowing down the spread of the virus so hospitals don’t get overwhelmed and result in more deaths. …
